COVID-19 Update

Yesterday, the United Nations called on governments around the world to make #domesticviolence a key part of their response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This comes after global increases in domestic violence reports during lockdowns.

There have been increased reports of domestic violence around the world as communities endure COVID-19. On April 2nd, a Georgia triple-murder suspect who kidnapped a child was finally in police custody after an armed standoff at a Tampa highway interchange. This horrifying act of domestic violence followed by an AMBER Alert ended in our backyard. As many families are spending days on end in close quarters, with added financial stressors, the risk of explosive acts of domestic violence by abusers increase. All of CASA’s services remain intact and we are here to support those in need.
