Responsibilities:  

Volunteer drivers deliver meals a to senior and homebound recipients within a specific geographic area, mid day.

Duties:

Complete Volunteer Application and Orientation
Register to deliver a route using Volunteer Hub site (www.mowtampa.volunteerhub.com)
Pick up meals in hot bags and coolers at designated pick up site at designated time.
Count meals and sides in accordance with route sheet. Maintain correct temperatures for food items by keeping food in separate closed containers provided.
Follow route sheet directions and instructions to deliver all meals and sides, performing a simple safety/well-being check on each recipient.
If signature log is included in route sheet, have recipient listed sign name to show proof of meal receipt. Please also sign your name and time of delivery on signature log.
Notify Meals On Wheels of Tampa office of anyone that does not answer door or phone. Leave a door hanger and take meal as you leave and give to another recipient on the route. NEVER LEAVE FOOD UNATTENDED.
Return empty containers and route sheet to pick up site.
On occasion, deliver additional items such as monthly billing statements, newsletters, cards, etc.
Notify Meals On Wheels of Tampa staff in advance if unable to deliver on assigned day. 

Time Commitment:

Meals are delivered Monday-Friday between 9:30am-2:30pm, depending on route location.
Volunteer drivers are asked to deliver at least one route per month. Routes typically take 60-90 minutes to complete.

Requirements:

Volunteers drivers will be subject to a background check.
Volunteer drivers use their own vehicle and gas. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance including $10,000 liability. A volunteer’s personal car insurance is the primary coverage while driving for Meals On Wheels of Tampa.
Volunteers should possess the ability to lift 10-25 lb. containers to your vehicle and should be able to climb stairs if necessary.
