Julie’s Story

Freedom Sailing Camp of Florida, Inc.

Julie started sailing with our program in 2013. Each year Julie has been sail with our summer camp group and adult weekend sailing and paddleboard programs. Julie sailing continue to improve each year. Her mother was exciting that Julie was getting out of her comfort zone and socializing and doing activity that could be share with her family. Because of Julie seizures conditions and vision problems she will be required to have a buddy on board to sail with her at all times.  I have been sailing with her for the last eight years she loves sailing and finds sailing her way of controlling her world. Because when she’d on land her world is control by others so some days she will sail all day if we will let her. For me the smiles and laughter on the days out of the water with Julie makes everyday I sail with her a joy. It also tells me that our program is doing something good for people like her.
