Our mission

Advancing literacy and closing the achievement gap for children in South St Pete.

Opportunities

Avoid the Summer Slide

We need support/funding to enhance our remote learning platform!  We want to add a Learning Management System to Microsoft Teams. Help us with Preparedness, OnBoarding, and Staying Engaged.

As the pandemic forced students to remote learning, our students are disproportionately impacted. Many are from low income HH’s likely to suffer most from increased unemployment and economic uncertainty. Parents are unprepared to “homeschool” – lower education, less time (high % of “essential workers”). Our students were already lagging academically.

How you help

The Shirley Proctor Puller Foundation is a small organization. Our impact in the lives of these students is BIG!! As we work on enhancing sustainability and scale to reach more students, there are many ways you can help.

About us

SPPF works directly with students in two academic enrichment programs, the SPPF M.A.S.T.R. Kids® After-School Program and the SPPF M.A.S.T.R. Kids® Summer Camp. Both these programs are built round a “literacy plus STEAM” curriculum. Students build core skills in English and Math and practice these skills in fun and engaging activities, field trips and interesting exchanges with community leaders. SPPF also works to advance literacy in the community by participating in literacy events such as the Tampa Times Festival of Reading or the James Weldon Johnson Literacy Festival, throughout St. Petersburg providing free books to children.
