April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Camelot Community Care

April is nationally recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month. During the COVID-19 outbreak and the Stay at Home Executive Order in the state, the need to raise awareness is even more critical.

Here’s how you can help spread awareness about and help stop child abuse:

WEAR BLUE. In 1989, the color blue was declared the Child Abuse Awareness ribbon color. On Friday, April 3 – we encourage the community to make a visible commitment to preventing child abuse by wearing blue. Share your support virtually by posting a picture in your blue with the hashtag #WearBlueDay.

KNOW. SEE. RESPOND. During April and all year long, we encourage adults and organizations in the community to play a vital role in making the state of Florida a safer place for children. When adults know how abuse happens, see the warning signs, and respond quickly to prevent abuse, they foster a culture of child abuse prevention. These three habits – KNOW. SEE. RESPOND. – can change the life of a child for the better. If you need to report abuse call the Florida Abuse Line at 800-962-2873.
