The Family Support Group helped me during this time

I have a son who has been diagnosed with bipolar.  He lives with me and cannot hold down a job because of his illness.  There are days that I just don’t know what to do or where to turn.  I found NAMI Pinellas online as I was searching for resources.  I joined their Family Support Group and was immediately welcomed and I felt that I was being heard….which has not happened in a long time.  When I share my dilemma with other family members or friends, they say that I need to have “tough love” with my son and that he needs to get over it.    Being a part of the Family Support Group, gives me an opportunity to be around other family members that are going through the same thing I am.  I feel more relaxed knowing that I am not the only one.  The group is led by trained NAMI volunteers, who themselves, are have family members/loved ones that has a mental illness.  I am so grateful for NAMI Pinellas.  I don’t know what I would have done without them.
